The twelfth season of American Idol took place between January until May 2013. There were three changes in the jury occupation, as Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were joined by Randy Jackson. Winner of the show was Candice Glover.

Changes the show

After the audience had waned in the eleventh season, the president of Fox Entertainment, Kevin Reilly had announced that there would be changes in the twelfth season. In mid-July, the two judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced they would no longer participate in the show. Ryan Seacrest will remain as before and for at least two more season moderator of the format.

Week in Hollywood and Las Vegas Retiring

For the first time the separating of Hollywood in the Valley Performance Arts Center were held in Northridge, California. Participants were separated according to gender. The male participants were off in the first, the female participants in the second week. There was every week three decisions: an A cappella, a group and a solo decision.

Of 40 participants in the " sudden death" ( sudden death, in the sense of sudden goers ) came only 20. There were four rounds, each with ten female and male participants, of which five progressed to the live semi-finals. The Las Vegas - goers took place at The Beatles Love by Cirque De Soleil at The Mirage.

Semifinal

The semi-finals took place, rather like its Las Vegas - goers, at The Beatles Love by Cirque De Soleil at The Mirage. The event, which lasted three nights, was the first in which spectators were allowed to vote from home to see who would progress in the show.
