American LaFrance ( ALF) is the world's fifth largest manufacturer of fire fighting and rescue vehicles in Summerville, South Carolina, USA with up to 1832 ancient history.

History

The actual American LaFrance Fire Engine Company was founded in 1903. The production facilities have been set up in Elmira, New York. 1929 American LaFrance merged with the Republic Motor Truck Company to LaFrance -Republic. On January 17, 2014, the Company announced that the business is set.

Products

American LaFrance manufactures and distributes a comprehensive range of fire and rescue vehicles. These include chassis, ambulances, fire engines and ladder trucks for fire departments and tankers.

Vehicles received

A larger number of ALF vehicles can be seen in the Auto and Technik - Museum Sinsheim.

Racing car

Since the twenties of the 20th century fire engines were converted into race cars, usually called Speedster. For this purpose, the frames were cut and reduces the equipment to a minimum.
