American Society for Engineering Education

The American Society for Engineering Education ( ASEE ), headquartered in Washington, DC was founded in 1893 and is one of the oldest organizations concerned with the education in engineering disciplines. It is the counterpart to the established in 1973, European Society for Engineering Education ( SEFI ). International operates the International Society for Engineering Education ( IGIP ).

The main task of the ASEE is the development, modernization and improvement of engineering education in the United States. This task is becoming increasingly important, because just in the U.S. (as well as in Europe ) to remove the numbers of first year engineering students far behind the expected demand in the coming years and decades. The ASEE organizes annual symposia ( " ASEE Annual Conference " ) with a large international participation, as well as seminars and workshops on key issues that take place in rotation in different places in the U.S.. She is the editor of several journals, including the award-winning PRISM Magazine, which deals with all the socially relevant aspects about the engineering profession, the Journal of Engineering Education (rather science- oriented), the journal "Advances in Engineering Education " ( more practical ) and various international journals.
