American Standard Companies

The American Standard Companies, Inc. was an American manufacturer of air conditioning systems, bathroom and kitchen furniture, and vehicle control techniques headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey.

In July 2007, American Standard announced and Bain Capital, that Bain Capital will take over the bath and kitchen product division of American Standard for $ 1.745 billion. The acquisition was completed by December 2007. On the fifth November 2007, the new company name Ideal Standard International SA was proclaimed by Bain Capital.

The since 1969 to American Standard owned subsidiary WABCO was spun on 1 August 2007 and has been listed on the NYSE under the symbol WBC '.

After the sale and spin-off of American Standard Companies merged the subsidiary Trane Inc. and has been adopted by the Group Ingersoll-Rand on 5 June 2008.

History

In 1892 resulted from the merger of three companies, the American Radiator Company. This was in 1929 renamed to its present name American Standard, because now this name was established in the daily business. In 1929, the IPO of American Standard Companies took place. 1968 and 1984, WABCO was acquired Trane Inc..

On 1 February 2007 it was announced that the company is split into three parts. The range of installation accessories for kitchens and bathrooms was sold and has since been trading as American Standard Brands. WABCO was spun and independent. The American Standard Companies changed its name to Trane Inc. and has been adopted by the Group Ingersoll-Rand in December 2007.
