Américo Brasiliense is a city in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The settlement was founded in 1854 and had 28,274 inhabitants in 2000. Its area is 132.8 km ². It was named after the politician Américo Brasiliense de Almeida Melo, a governor and president of São Paulo.

The city is named for the surrounding sugar cane fields also Doçura Cidade (City of sweetness). The sugar industry represents the main industry of the city
