Pd5

The Ameringkogel ( 2187 m above sea level. A. ) is the highest mountain in the Packalpe, the highest mountain ridge of the Alps east of the Lavant Lavant Valley.

About the Ameringkogel is the boundary of the Styrian municipalities Amering and rice road. The Ameringmassiv rises to over 1,500 meters above Aichfeld and has a distinctive, moderately steeply sloping meadow ridge which runs in a north -south direction. To the northwest is still the top of the mountain size ( Größing ) ( 2152 m), southeast of the Pack Alpine ridge at their Hofalmkogel (2040 m) and Speikkogel (1993 m above sea level. A. ) away. The Ameringkogel has a high degree of independence, since it is connected only by the westerly Obdacher saddle ( 955 m) with the higher Seetaler Alps ( Zirbitzkogel, 2396m ). Geologically, predominantly composed of orthogneisses of the mountain.

The shortest ascent route leads from Hirschegger saddle (1543 m ) in 2 ½ to 3 hours on the Speikkogel and Hofalmkogel to the top of Ameringkogels. In good conditions, this hike offers no difficulties through extensive pastureland.
