Amersham plc

Amersham plc was a British company for medical diagnostics and biotechnical products.

Amersham International plc was founded in 1982. The company has its roots in a formed in 1946, National Centre for the development and production of radioactive materials for peaceful use in medicine, research and industry and was the first company that privatized Margaret Thatcher.

The Swedish company Pharmacia Biotech was acquired by her in 1997. That same year, she was joined as Nycomed Amersham plc with the Norwegian Nycomed Amersham plc and renamed in 2001.

In 2004, Amersham plc by the American company General Electric ( GE) has been adopted, integrated into GE Healthcare and divided into the lines of business, GE Healthcare Medical Diagnostics and GE Healthcare Life Sciences.

The headquarters of GE Healthcare is located in Amersham, which derives its name. It is the only GE headquarters outside the United States.
