Ameziniummetilsulfat is an indirect sympathomimetic.

It acts by inhibiting the degradation of norepinephrine in the body and therefore provide an increase in the concentration of this hormone. Here, the norepinephrine acts primarily on the blood vessels. This pull himself together, causing an increase in blood pressure and in addition improves the blood flow to the organs. The power of the heart (pump power ) is thus hardly changed. It may also cause a reflex lowering, at high doses, however, to an increase in heart rate.
