AMIA bombing

In the bombing of the AMIA building on 18 July 1994 in Buenos Aires, 85 people were killed and injured 300 people. It was the heaviest bombing in Argentina's history. The Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina, a center of the Jewish community in Argentina, it was completely destroyed. The assassin, the 21 -year-old Ibrahim Hussein Berro Lebanese, was identified only in November 2005, after extensive DNA studies. The backgrounds for the attack were never clarified.

Backgrounds and speculation

In February 2013, Argentina has signed an agreement to investigate the AMIA attack with Iran.

In January 2014 Itzhak Aviran declared, 1993-2000 Office of the Israeli Ambassador in Argentina, in a printed by the newspaper Clarín interview with the news agency Agencia Judía de Noticias ( AJN ), Israel knew who the main perpetrators were ( ie Iranians ) and have since most of them killed. Argentina's Foreign Minister Hector Timerman sees this as evidence that Israel had the Argentine justice so far denied aware information to educate the stop. The charge of the case prosecutor wants to summon Aviran to testify. The Israeli Foreign Ministry rejected the statements Avirans however, as " complete nonsense " back.

Requests for arrest

In November 2006, a " red notice " was requested ( requests for arrest ) against nine persons from the Argentine authorities Interpol, which was reduced in March 2007, after examining the documents to six people:

  • Imad Fayez Mughniyah (former Hezbollah chief )
  • Ali Fallahijan (former intelligence chief of Iran)

  • Ahmad Reza Asghari (former Third Secretary of Iran in Argentina )
  • Ahmad Vahidi ( former head of the al - Quds Force, since 2009 Minister of Defense of Iran) and
