Amico Aspertini

Amico Aspertini, (c. 1474/1475 probably in Bologna, † 1552 in Bologna ) was an Italian Renaissance painter and sculptor, the Bolognese school.

Life

Amico Aspertini is the best known representative of a Bolognese family of artists. Both the father, Giovanni Antonio Aspertini, as well as two of his brothers, Leonello and Guido worked as a painter. His craft he learned from his father, before he became an assistant in the workshops of Ercole de Roberti, Lorenzo Costa and Francesco Francia later worked and continue to made ​​there. At the same time practiced the Nordic painting, in particular the German and Early Netherlandish artists, a lasting impression on him. During a likely early trip to Florence, he learns probably know Filippino Lippi, whose work was of some influence on Amico's early work. Between 1496 and 1503 he worked in Rome. Furthermore, documented also stays in Lucca, Mantua, Siena. From 1527 to 1528 and from 1531 to 1534 he stayed again in Rome.

Aspertini was influenced by ancient artists early on. Later he was inspired by the art of Michelangelo. The works Amico Aspertinis are very imaginative and connect the diverse influences into a unique style. With enthusiasm, he took the influences of the early Mannerism into itself. He was soon regarded as a painter who is not stuck to the artistic standards and trod a completely different way. This meant that his works were highly sought after and he was awarded numerous orders. In addition to his painting enjoyed his sculptural works a high reputation, so to assume that is that he also pursued sculpture not just a hobby.
