Amílcar Barbuy

Amilcar Barbuy the national team ( 1920 )

Amilcar Barbuy ( born March 29, 1893 in Rio das Pedras, † August 24, 1965 in São Paulo) was an Italian- Brazilian football player and coach.

Barbuy was of Italian descent; after a long and successful career as a player and coach of various clubs from São Paulo, including the Corinthians and Palestra Itália, as well as captain of the Brazilian national team in 1930, he moved to Lazio in Italy. When traveling to Brazil in 1931, he recruited many from Italy ( from ) native Brazilian players for Lazio, which led to a true wave of migration. At the peak of this development in 1933 stood twelve " Brazilian" at Lazio under contract - the team was nicknamed Brasilazio - including as a coach Barbuy.

In addition, he also coached Lazio FC São Paulo, Palestra Itália, SC Corinthians Paulista, Portuguesa, AA Portuguesa Santista and Atlético Mineiro.
