Amina Adil

Amina Adil (Russian Амина Адиль; * 1929/1930 in Kazan, Tatar ASSR, USSR; † 16 November 2004 Lefke, Cyprus) was a Tatar writer and Sufi theologian.

Life

Amina Adil was born as one of four children of a Tatar family. 1934 fled her Muslim family because of harassment by the Soviet system first after Eleşkirt, then to Erzurum in Turkey. After another ten years, the family emigrated from there to Damascus.

Amina Adil studied Islamic jurisprudence at Sheikh Salih Sheikh Mukhtar Farfour and Alayli as well as Shaykh Abdullah ad - Daghastani Sufism.

In 1952 she married Sheikh Nazim. The marriage produced five children.

During the years in Damascus and moving to Lefke, Cyprus, Adil was head of the Women's Dhikr and instructed women in the Naqshbandi Sufi Order.
