Amini Fonua

Amini Tuitavake Britteon Fonua ( born December 14, 1989 in Auckland ) is a Tongan swimmers.

Life

He came as the son of Sione and Julie Fonua in the New Zealand city of Auckland born and grew up in the district of Ponsonby. In 2008 he graduated from the local Western Springs College and studied at the time (June 2012) at Texas A & M University " Telecommunication and Media Studies".

Sports career

Fonua took, trained at West Auckland Aquatics Donna Bouzaid, at the New Zealand preliminaries for the 2008 Summer Olympics and took part in the 50m breast the second, 100m breaststroke and the 200m breaststroke third to ninth place. Since its start of the study in the United States, he joined the Big 12 Championships in the NCAA.

His biggest success he achieved in June 2010 when he won the title over 50 meters breaststroke just before the New Zealander Nick Ferrif at the Ozeanienmeisterschaften in the Samoan capital of Apia. In October of the same year he represented Tonga as the first swimmer of his country at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. About the 50m backstroke he did not come beyond the forward and he reached over the 100 meter breaststroke while the semi-finals, finished eighth in this, however, and thus last place. Things went better for Fonua on the 50 meter breaststroke; he reached the finals and finished seventh.

In 2011, he managed to qualify for the staged in Shanghai World Swimming Championships. With a 25th place in the 50m breast and rank 59 about twice the distance he failed, however, in the local heats. However, the year ended conciliatory because he was able to win two silver and one bronze in late summer at the Pacific Games in Noumea (New Caledonia). In May and June 2012, he swam again in the Ozeanienmeisterschaften, which also took place in Noumea. Fonua succeeded in the defense of his title on the 50 meter breaststroke.

At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London Fonua started in the 100-m breaststroke. He dropped out in the run, finishing in 41st place.
