Aminocoumarin

The aminocoumarins are antibiotics prevented by inhibition of gyrase cell division of bacteria. They are obtained from bacteria of the genus Streptomyces, the most well known Streptomyces coelicolor, the first completely sequenced Streptomyces species is.

The Aminocumarinen include antibiotics

  • Novobiocin, which is approved in the U.S. under the name Albamycin
  • Coumermycin and
  • Clorobiocin

The latter two are not clinically used, since the toxicity of the substance to be high and the water solubility is too low.

A common structural feature of the aminocoumarin antibiotics is a 3 -amino-4 ,7- dihydroxycumarinring associated with a sugar at the 7- position and, for example, a benzoic acid derivative in the 3- position.
