Aminophylline is a drug from the group of methylxanthines. It is the ethylenediamine salt of theophylline and how this can be used as a bronchodilator in bronchial asthma. However, it is less potent and less effective and is therefore rarely used. Moreover, it stimulates the central nervous system, diuresis and the gastric acid secretion.

The plasma half-life is approximately 7-9 hours. In the blood of the active ingredient is about 60 % bound to protein.
