Amir Ansari

Amir Ansari (Persian امیر انصاری [ Aemi ː ː ri ː r ænsɔ ]; born 1970 in Tehran, Iran) is an American entrepreneur.

At the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 emigrated Ansari in the U.S., where he achieved a bachelor's degree. In 1993 he founded together with his brother Hamid and his sister in law Anousheh telecommunications company tii ( telecom technologies incorporated ). Amir was the technical director (Chief Technology Officer ). In 2000, the U.S. group Sonus Networks took over tti for 550 million U.S. dollars and Amir worked for a short time in the Sonus daughter IntelligenTip ( INIP ).

With the money, Sonus Networks, the three Ansari founded in early 2006 a new company: Prodea Systems is a private equity firm, which has its headquarters in Plano (Texas ).

Ansari is one of the largest sponsor of the Ansari X Prize. The prize for the first private space flight was named in May 2004 after he and his sister in law Anousheh.
