Amlaíb Cuarán

In Irish, he is known as Amlaíb Cuaran. His nickname Cuaran means " sandals ".

By 937 he ruled in Dublin and took part in the Battle of Brunanburh on the part of the losing alliance.

Among his wives was Gormflaith, daughter of Murchad mac Finn, King of Leinster, and future wife of Brian Boru. She was the mother of his successor Sigtrygg Silkbeard.
