Ammonium thiosulfate is a chemical compound selected from the group of ammonium salts and inorganic thiosulfate.
Production and representation
Ammonium can be obtained (some with ammonia), oxidation of hydrogen sulfide by reaction of ammonium with sulfur dioxide by reaction of ammonium sulfite with sulfur or sulfides in aqueous solutions.
Properties
Ammonium thiosulfate decomposes above a temperature above 150 ° C, sulfur oxides, ammonia, and nitrogen oxides.
Use
Ammonium thiosulfate is used as a fast fixing (like sodium ) for the manufacture of the fixer in the film art photographic technique and the X-ray technology, and as a fertilizer.
