Åmot is a Norwegian municipality northeast of Oslo in the Fylke Hedmark.

Geography

The municipality is 1339 km ² and has 4414 inhabitants (31 March 2013). To the north is bordered Åmot to the municipality Rendalen, to the east by Trysil, Elverum to the south, on the southwest by Løten, Hamar, Ringsaker and to the west by Stor - Elvdal. The name of the municipality is derived from the Norwegian å Mote ( "hit" ), as rivers meet Glomma and Renaelva here.

The center of the municipality is the place Rena.
