Amparanoia

Amparanoia was a Spanish band of the Mestizo scene, which was founded in 1996 by Amparo Sánchez and has its origin in Granada. Their music combined the influences of different cultures and styles such as traditional folklore, Dub, Reggae, Ska, Rumba, Bolero, Jazz, Cumbia and more. The lyrics were mostly in Spanish, but also French and English and frequently attacked political and socio-critical topics.

The name of the band presented a play on words from the first name of the singer ( Amparo ) and the term paranoia dar. Other members of the band were José Alberto Varona and Vesko Kountchev, and formerly Caridad Borges.

Successfully, the band was particularly in the alternative music scene in Spain and also known by the exchange and collaboration with the French singer and musician Manu Chao. For example, was the title Buen rollito on the debut album El Poder de Machin in a collaboration and was later published under the title Welcome To Tijuana Manu Chao's album.

Amparo Sánchez dissolved the band in 2008 after a farewell tour and the last album seguire Caminando on and pursued a solo career since then.
