Amparo Ochoa

María Amparo Ochoa Castaño ( born September 29, 1946 in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, † February 8, 1994 ) was a Mexican singer.

Better known as Amparo Ochoa, she belonged to a generation of singers who had their origins in the 1960s, and from the outset as a representative of the so-called " Nuevo Canción ", the new political song, mind.

Career

From childhood, she fell by the singing at home with her father and at events in the school. In 1965, she participated with the song of the " beautiful Lucero " in a singing contest in her hometown and won it.

She lived until 1969 in Culiacan, Sinaloa, where he was a teacher at a village school in their home state. Since they are not found there, in education of primary school children their fulfillment, her sister convinced her that she had to go as an excellent singer to Mexico City. In the same year she won there first place in an amateur competition. After this success, they began to use their music for the defense of social rights both in Mexico and in other parts of Latin America. Works

Only years later, she visited Chile on the occasion of the end of the military dictatorship, when Patricio Aylwin was elected president of the republic.
