Amphiarthrosis

A amphiarthrosis ( from the Greek amphi - "around", " around " and Arthros - " joint " ) or tight joint is a diarthrosis ( "real joint " ) with reduced mobility by tight ligaments. In the radiograph of the joint space can be seen. The articular surfaces are coated as in all joints of hyaline cartilage. The range of motion of a amphiarthrosis is relatively low.

One example is the sacroiliac joint ( articulatio sacroiliaca ), ie the connection between the pelvis, specifically the ilium ( ilium ), and the spine, especially the sacrum ( os sacrum ). Also amphiarthroses are the articulations between the carpal-tarsal.
