Amphiptere

In heraldry the amphitere is a snake with bird wings. Later, she is also depicted with bat wings. It is the forerunner of medieval dragon representations.

Legends of Amphiteren are also known from Wales and Ireland. In the tales of the mythical creatures are often regarded as a lucky charm, unlike the similar drakes that are destructive.
