Amposta

Limestone is a Spanish city in the southeast of Catalonia. It is the capital of Valle Montsiā. It is the southernmost Comarca, both the province of Tarragona in Catalonia as well.

The municipality is situated on the River Ebro, near the Ebro Delta, with an elevation of 8 meters above sea level. The population was 21,511 at January 1, 2013. Agriculture, especially of rice cultivation, is the largest economic sector.

Attractions

Worth seeing are the suspension bridge over the Ebro and the remains of a medieval castle. For hiking itself offers extensive Ebro Delta with the lagoons of Tancada and l' Encanyissada and the rice fields in the criss-crossed by canals delta landscape. Also worth seeing are the water source ( ullals ) and the swamps. Limestone also forms the starting point for excursions to the Ebro Delta and has river traffic.
