Amr Waked

Amr Waked ( born April 12, 1973 in Cairo, Egypt) is an Egyptian film and theater actor. He became known through the films Syriana and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

Life and career

Amr Waked studied at the American University in Cairo and then began a career in the theater. Although Waked, at the beginning of his career, wanted to be a stockbroker and the Acting exercised only as a side job, but he finally decided to become an actor and earn money. He also took part in the revolution in Egypt in 2011.

From 1992 to 2002 Waked worked at various theaters and played doing some major roles. He will for years to outstanding films in his native country and was awarded several prizes. Among other things, Waked was shayateen in Gannat al, the Dail el samakah, Dam el ghazal, Il padre e lo straniero and to see 2012 in the film El sheita elli fat.

Amr Waked in 2005 starred in Syriana, the main role of Mohammed Sheik Agiza, where he first gained notoriety in the western part of the world. Furthermore, he was a supporting role in the television series The Hussein 2008: to see in the center of power. In 2011, he played a small supporting role in the film Contagion. In the same year he gained greater popularity by the nominated for a Golden Globe film Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Here he plays the lead role of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Zaidi bani Tihama, alongside Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt, under the director Lasse Hallström.
