AmRest

The Polish company AmRest operates about 700 food service establishments in eight Central and Eastern European countries as well as in France, Spain, Germany and the USA. The company employs around 22,000 people, the 2012 revenues of approximately 2.353 billion zloty generated (approx. 565 million euro ), and is based in Wroclaw.

Since 27 April 2005, AmRest is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange under the symbol EAT.

History

Henry J. McGovern, Donald M. Kendall, Sr., Donald M. Kendall, Jr. and Christian R. EISENBEISS founded in May 1993, the company American Retail Systems. Initially, the company's franchise rights had for Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants ( KFC ) in western Poland.

In the Czech Republic American Retail Systems took over in 1998, the Yum! Powered Brands KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants.

The AmRest Holdings SE was founded in 2000 as a joint venture of American Retail Systems and Yum! Brands founded. In 2001, the holding company, International Fast Food Polska Sp z oo ( PIFF ) operatively 23 Polish Burger King restaurants. Following the acquisition of 17 restaurants were converted Fried Chicken in Kentucky and six are closed.

The remaining franchise of KFC and Pizza Hut in Poland and the Czech Republic in 2005 by Yum! Brands acquired. Thus AmRest was the only operator of the food service concepts in these two countries.

On 27 April 2005, the initial public offering (IPO) of AmRest on the Warsaw Stock Exchange took place. In the course of the IPO sold Yum! Brands its share of the joint venture.

2006 seventeen franchises were taken in Hungary and introduced the new food service concepts Freshpoint and Rodeo Drive in the market. In addition, eight Big Foot restaurants were taken over in the Czech Republic and converted into Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants.

In Poland in 2007 the first own Burger King restaurant and the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants were opened in Serbia and Bulgaria. With Starbucks, a contract was signed, the AmRest gave the rights for Starbucks cafes in Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary.

Burger King Restaurants arrived in Bulgaria and Russia added in 2008. The first Starbucks was opened in January 2008 in Prague. In May 2008 AmRest took over 80 percent of the U.S. Apple Grove Holding, the second largest Applebee franchisee with over 100 restaurants in eight states in the United States.

The private equity firm Warburg Pincus offered in April 2010 for a 24.99 - percent share of 300 million zloty (approx. 72 million euros ). Furthermore AmRest opened the first Starbucks in Hungary.

In the Spanish market AmRest occurred in 2011 after the acquisition for 205 million euros of Restauravia, operator of 30 KFC- 120 and La - tagliatella restaurants in Spain, a. The La - tagliatella restaurants offer products of Italian cuisine, preferably from the regions of Liguria, Piedmont and Reggio Emilia, at.
