Amsoldingen with Stockhornkette

Amsoldingen is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. The village is situated on the banks of Amsoldingersees and is about 5 km from Thun.

Amsoldingen is known for the Church Amsoldingen, the largest Ottonian basilica of the area. From 1728 to 1738 worked here as a pastor Samuel Lutz.

From the dairy resident in the village comes also the Amsoldinger cheese, a semi-hard raw milk product, which reminds the taste of the Emmental.

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 46.0 %, BDP 13.7 %, SP 12.2 %, GPS 6.8 %, glp 5.9 %, EPP 4.8 %, FDP 3.9 %, EDU 2.7 %, CVP 1.4 %, Alps Parliament 1.0 %.
