Amundsen (crater)

Amundsen is an impact crater on the lunar front side near the south pole, south-east of the crater Scott and north of Faustini. The relatively young crater has the edge on distinct terraces, the interior is mostly flat with a central peak.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1964 after the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen.
