An der Etsch

The Deutschordensballei " At the Adige and the Mountains" is a medieval province of the Teutonic Order, which was founded in 1260 and had its headquarters in Bolzano. It corresponded in size as the area of the historic Tyrol.

For Bailiwick included the coming of Bolzano and Trento. Other branches were established as hospices along the roads to Rome in Lengmoos ( Ritten ), Vipiteno and Schlanders.

During the eventful history of the Teutonic Order, the bailiwick was never repealed entirely and could thus become the nucleus of renewal in the 19th century under Peter Rigler.

Today, the bailiwick is " At the River Adige and the Mountains" the familiars (third branch of the Teutonic Order ) in South Tyrol.
