Ana Botella

Ana María Botella Serrano ( born July 24, 1953 in Madrid) is a Spanish politician of the People's party Partido Popular (PP ) and incumbent Mayor of Madrid.

Career

On 27 December 2011, the trained lawyer was elected by a majority of votes of the PP parliamentary group on the city council as the first woman mayor of Madrid.

Botella entered thus succeeds Alberto Ruiz- Gallardón from, who moved into the Cabinet under Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and there was justice minister. Previously, she was responsible for environment and transport policies in the City Council since 2007.

Ana Botella, who grew up as the oldest of thirteen siblings, is married to the former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar since 1977. The couple has three children. Botella represents, as well as her husband, the value conservative wing within their party.
