Ana de Palacio y del Valle-Lersundi

Ana Isabel de Palacio del Valle- Lersundi ( born July 22, 1948 in Madrid ) was on 9 July 2002 to April 16th 2004 Spanish foreign minister in the government of José María Aznar, and therefore the first woman at the head of Spanish diplomacy.

She completed her high school education in the subjects from law, politics and sociology, worked for several years as a lawyer before she was for the Partido Popular (PP ) elected in 1994 to the European Parliament.

Here they later headed the Interior Committee and represented Spain in the Bureau of the Constitutional Convention.

Ana Palacios sister is the now deceased, former EU Commissioner Loyola de Palacio del Valle- Lersundi.
