Anagenesis

The anagen (Greek ana = up; genesis = origin ), also known as phyletic evolution or transformation of species, referred to the higher development or transformation of a taxon in evolution without speciation. The associated accumulation of inherited changes leading to Artneubildung.

In contrast to cladogenesis no sister species arise in the anagen by formation of new species ( divergence), but it only takes a transformation of one species instead; in the case of Chrono species may thus emerge from a kind of a time later type. The number of species is therefore not increased.
