Anais (Charente-Maritime)

Anais is a commune of 325 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Charente -Maritime, in the arrondissement of La Rochelle, in the canton of La Jarrie and in the community association Plaine d' Aunis.

Geography

Anais is located along the Curé, 20 kilometers west of La Rochelle and south of the Marais Poitevin. The municipality comprises the villages of Les Rivières - d'Anais, Les Petites Rivières, Le Moulin Neuf, Fraise and Anais.

Demographics

According to the census of the Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques on 1 January 2007 had 284 inhabitants Anais, which corresponds to a population increase of about 35 % compared to the year 1999.

Since 1793, the population development of Anais is held by census or update and shows that in 1872 the highest-ever number of inhabitants was reached by 340 inhabitants and 1962 the lowest, with 184 inhabitants.
