Ananda Sukarlan

Ananda Sukarlan ( born June 10, 1968 in Jakarta ) is an Indonesian pianist.

Life

Sukarlan had as a child piano lessons with an older sister and visited six years the music school of Jakarta. After the completion of the Jesuit Canisius High School, he studied from 1986 at the Walter Hautzig Conservatory in Hartford (Connecticut).

Later he went to the Netherlands to study at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague. After 1993, the cultural cooperation between the Netherlands and Indonesia and interrupted his scholarship was suspended, he has participated in numerous competitions to fund his further studies and graduated cum laude 1998summa. Since then, he lives in Spain.

The focus of the repertoire Sukarlans are the works of contemporary composers. Many Spanish composers, but also his teacher Roderick de Man dedicated works to him.
