Anas Urbaningrum

Anas Urbaningrum ( born July 15, 1969 in Srengat / Blitar / Jawa Timur ) is an Indonesian politician. He was chairman of the Democratic Party of his country. He is also a group leader of his party in the House of Representatives. When he was elected at the age of 40 he was one of the youngest party leaders in Asia. In February 2013 he resigned when he was accused by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK ) to be involved in a scandal involving the construction of a sports center in West Java.

Urbaningrum graduated in 1992, the course of study Political Science at the University of Airlangga, made in 2000 his Masters at the University of Indonesia and published his thesis under the title "Democratic Islam: The Thoughts of Nurcholish Madjid " ( Republika, 2000). Currently, he closes his studies at Gadjah Mada University.
