ANAS

ANAS is the abbreviation for the Azienda Nazionale Autonoma delle Strade ( ANAS SpA) (literally "national autonomous road operating company ", in South Tyrol officially " State- Autonomous Road Administration " ) in Italy. It is a state-owned company to maintain the network of roads and highways that are of national interest. The Company was incorporated on June 27, 1946. It is the successor of the AASS (of 1928) and has taken over the road network. Its headquarters is in Rome. The capital of the company amounts to approximately 2.2 billion euros. It has 6,584 employees and to provide a road and highway network of about 25,420 km. Of these, about 900 km Motorway, which are maintained particularly in the South and, therefore, are toll-free, and 360 km away Raccordi autostradali ( feeder road ). Overall, the Italian motorway network is built, maintained and operated by 24 licensed operators, who are responsible for 5695 km. The ANAS is the State Inspectorate, which awards the concessions. Since 1 January 2003, it is led into a joint stock company with the Ministero delle Finanze dell'Economia e (Economics and Finance) as the sole shareholder. As the supervisory authority for the ANAS SpA acts, the Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti (Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport ).
