Anastasios Metaxas

Anastasios Metaxas (Greek Ἀναστάσιος Μεταξάς, born February 27, 1862 in Athens, † January 28, 1937 ) was a Greek architect and shooting sports.

Metaxas worked about 25 years as an architect and construction manager in architect, archaeologist Ernst Ziller Bauforschers and office. During this time he led the rebuilding of the Panhellenic stadium, the draft of which came from the re-discoverer and excavator Ernst Ziller. In that stadium I. Summer Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896. Metaxas himself took part in the Games in target shooting and finished second in the competition with the military rifle over 200 and 300 meters fourth place respectively.

Ten years later, Metaxas took part in the 1906 Summer Olympics, which were held again in the rebuilt stadium of him. He participated in nine contests. In Doppeltrapschießen he was awarded second place. In the team competition with the free rifle he was with the Greek team fourth. In trapshooting, he finished at the Games in London in 1908 and third place in Stockholm in 1912 to sixth place.

After 1908 Metaxas was the architect and oversaw the construction of the church of Agios Andreas, Patras.
