Anat Cohen

Anat Cohen (Hebrew ענת כהן; born 1975 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli jazz musician (clarinet, soprano and tenor saxophone).

Life and work

Cohen comes from a musical family; saxophonist Yuval and trumpeter Avishai Cohen are their brothers. She played as a twelve- year-old initially on the clarinet of her father; She was initially trained at the Conservatory in her native city and began to play in a Dixieland band. During her time on the junior high school, she played beyond in a classical chamber ensemble; on the Thelma Yellin High School for the Arts, they then focused on jazz. During her military service, she played as Tenorsaxophonistin in a big band of the army. 1996 she began training at the Berklee College of Music; next they played Latin jazz. Following her studies, she moved in 1999 to New York City, where she stood out among others in the Diva Jazz Orchestra and the Choro Ensemble. Furthermore, she played with Nancy Wilson, Dave Brubeck, Slide Hampton, Duduka da Fonseca and Diane Schuur. In 2005, she released her first album "Place and Time".
