Anatoli Semenov

Anatoli Anatoljevich Semyonov (Russian Анатолий Анатольевич Семёнов; born March 5, 1962 in Moscow ) is a former Russian ice hockey player.

Career

During his career he played from 1979 to 1990 at HK Dynamo Moscow. NHL Entry Draft 1989 Semyonov was selected in the 6th round at 120th position of the Edmonton Oilers. In 1990 he moved during the playoffs for the Oilers in the National Hockey League. The Oilers won the Stanley Cup this season, but since he was not used in any of the finals, you can not engraved his name on the Cup. He would be the first Russian who was immortalized on the trophy. So it took until 1994 before this was achieved some of his compatriots. Further stations of his career in the NHL was Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres. Overall Semenov scored 154 goals in 375 games in the Soviet league. In the NHL, he went to 362 games of the regular season with 68 goals and 126 assists, and 49 playoff games with nine goals and 13 assists.

He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team. On April 21, 1981, he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games 1988. For the national team, he scored 33 goals in 120 internationals. On April 5, 1990 he played his last international match.
