Anatoly Filipchenko
Anatoly Vasilyevich Filipchenko (Russian Анатолий Васильевич Филипченко; born February 26, 1928 in Dawydowka at Voronezh, Russian SFSR ) is a retired Soviet cosmonaut.
Life
After school he learned the trade of turner. Later, he joined the Red Army and was at the Military Aviation School Chuhuiv trained ( with distinction ). From 1950 he was serving in the air forces of the USSR. In 1960 he completed his studies at the Military Academy of the Air Force, " J. A. Gagarin " successfully.
In January 1963 Filipchenko was selected as a cosmonaut. After his basic training he was assigned to the Spiral project in July 1965. This should contribute to the development of a reusable space shuttle in the early stages he and other cosmonauts.
As developed for some time Soyuz spacecraft was ready, Filipchenko got an education as commander of this type. He received his first nomination for the replacement commander for the flight of Soyuz 5 in January 1969.
