Anatoly Filipchenko

Anatoly Vasilyevich Filipchenko (Russian Анатолий Васильевич Филипченко; born February 26, 1928 in Dawydowka at Voronezh, Russian SFSR ) is a retired Soviet cosmonaut.

Life

After school he learned the trade of turner. Later, he joined the Red Army and was at the Military Aviation School Chuhuiv trained ( with distinction ). From 1950 he was serving in the air forces of the USSR. In 1960 he completed his studies at the Military Academy of the Air Force, " J. A. Gagarin " successfully.

In January 1963 Filipchenko was selected as a cosmonaut. After his basic training he was assigned to the Spiral project in July 1965. This should contribute to the development of a reusable space shuttle in the early stages he and other cosmonauts.
