The Ancash Quechua ( Ankash Nunashimi ) or Quechua Ancashino is a variety of the central branch of the Quechua language family, which in the Peruvian department of Ancash is spoken ( with the exception of the coast and the northernmost part ) and parts of the department of Huanuco.

It is the only variety of the central branch of the Quechua ( Quechua I by Alfredo Torero or Waywash ), which still has a closed language area and the - next to the southern Quechua varieties Chanka and Qusqu - Qullaw - in the " Intercultural bilingual education " to the schools of Peru will be used. Although the Quechua Ancashino much more in different dialects decays as the Southern Quechua, a written language standard has now been created, which is also used by the state in school.
