Ancient Diocese of Dol

The bishopric of Dol (Latin: Dioecesis Dolensis ) was a location in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Dol -de -Bretagne.

History

The bishopric of Dol was built in the 6th century. First bishop was Samson. Between 848 and 1209 the diocese was an archbishopric.

On 29 November 1801, the diocese of Dol was disbanded due to the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was the bishoprics of Rennes and Saint- Brieuc affiliated.

The bishopric of Dol was the archbishopric Tours is a suffragan. In the 18th century the bishopric of Dol comprised about 100 parishes.
