Ancient Diocese of Saintes

The diocese of Saintes (Latin: Dioecesis Sanctonensis seu Xanctonensis ) was located in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Saintes.

History

The diocese of Saintes was built in the 3rd century. First bishop was Eutropius.

On 29 November 1801, the diocese of Saintes was disbanded due to the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was the bishoprics of Angouleme, La Rochelle and Poitiers affiliated.
