Ancient Diocese of Sarlat

The diocese of Sarlat (Latin: Dioecesis Sarlatensis ) was located in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Sarlat- la -Caneda.

History

The diocese of Sarlat was posted on August 13, 1317 by Pope John XXII. built out of territory of the Diocese of Périgueux. First bishop was Raimond de Roquecorn.

On 29 November 1801, the diocese of Sarlat was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the diocese of Angoulême.

The diocese of Sarlat was the archbishopric of Bordeaux is a suffragan. Early 18th century included the diocese of Sarlat about 300 parishes.
