The Ancistrus cirrhosus is a freshwater ornamental fish from the kind of antenna armored catfish.

Features

It can attain a length of up to 12 cm. This species is similar to drawn such as the Blue catfish. The basic color can take between dark brown, dark blue and black gray different shades. Over the entire body small white or yellowish points are distributed. The belly is gray with a pink cast. The dark fins show several dark dot rows. In the base of the anterior dorsal fin is a deep black spot. Males can wear antler -like antennae on the head, females more than stubby appendages.

Dissemination

The Ancistrus cirrhosus is spread over large parts of Argentina and Paraguay and is used for example in the Rio Paraná and around Buenos Aires frequently. It inhabits slightly acidic to neutral and soft freshwaters, both rivers and tranquil lakes.
