Andara

Andara is a settlement in the constituency Mukwe in the Kavango - East region in northeastern Namibia. With the surrounding settlements Diyogha and Dyapanga Andara comes to around 5000 inhabitants. Andara is located on the west bank of the Okavango, above the Popa Falls and near places Bagani and Mukwe at an altitude of 1018 meters above sea level.

History

Located at Andara Okavango Islands Tanhwe and Thipanana are the Mbukushu kings since the early 19th century residence. Andara is first drawn as a result of a protection contract with the Kings in 1909 as the site of a mission into consideration; However, it is not until 1914 establishing the Andara Catholic mission, which is the second oldest mission station in the Kavango was founded in 1909 after the mission Nyangana. The brick church from this period has recently been completely renovated.
