Ander Garitano

Ander Garitano ( born February 26, 1969 in Derio, Spain ) is a Spanish football manager and former player.

The native Basque Garitano played in his career as a professional football player for several years for the Basque club Athletic Bilbao tradition as a left winger. From 1996 to 2002, he played for six years for Bilbao's league rivals Real Zaragoza until his career end. With Saragossa he won the 2001 Copa del Rey, the Spanish Cup.

Since then he has coached several youth teams in the Aragonese, until he assumed the office of his predecessor Víctor Fernández on January 14, 2008. He made his debut in the Copa del Rey - quarter-finals at Racing Santander, which is lost with 2:4 and 1:1 after retired from the first leg. Already on 22 January, he resigned from his coaching job because of differences with the club's management and with playmaker Andres D' Alessandro back.
