Anders Bardal

Anders Bardal ( born August 24, 1982 in Steinkjer ) is a Norwegian ski jumper who jumps for the ski club in Steinkjer. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme, he became world champion on the normal hill. His current coach is Alexander Stoeckl.

Career

Bardal debuted in the World Cup in February 2001 in Willingen. 2005 Anders Bardal criticized that he was not nominated for the Four Hills Tournament. He had his first podium finish in the 2006/07 season when he was third in Oslo. Until his first World Cup victory 27 January 2008 in Zakopane his best individual result was a second place in the Four Hills Tournament 2007/ 08 in Bischofshofen. A second place he could reach in Oberhof also at the Summer Grand Prix 2006.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo 2007 he won with Tom Hilde, Anders Jacobsen and Roar Ljøkelsøy the silver medal in the team competition on the large hill.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, he reached the 18th place in jumping on the normal hill. With the team he won the bronze medal in the team competition.

End of March 2011 secured Anders Bardal of the Norwegian league title on the normal hill in Steinkjer.

In the Four Hills Tournament 2011/12 he was ranked fourth and so far his best finish in this competition series. By winning the World Cup on February 12, 2012 in Willingen, he secured the first time in his career the yellow leader's jersey in the World Cup. He managed to defend the lead in the overall World Cup until the end of the season and this so to win for the first time in his career. He is the first Norwegian overall World Cup winner since Espen Bredesen in the season 1993 / 94th In the subsequent election Ski King by sports journalists reached Bardal took third place behind the cross-country skiers Dario Cologna and Marit Bjørgen. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme, he won ahead of Gregor Schlierenzauer and Peter Prevc gold when jumping from the normal hill.

On February 9, he won at the Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi bronze on the normal hill behind Kamil Stoch and Peter Prevc.

Anders Bardal speaks Norwegian, English and German and has one daughter.
