Anders Carlsson

Anders Carlsson ( born November 25, 1960 in Gävle ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and functionary who has played in his time from 1978 to 2001 among others for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League.

Career

Anders Carlsson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Brynäs IF, for the first team, he was from 1978 to 1984 in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, active. His greatest success with Brynäs in this period was winning the Swedish championship title in the season 1979 /80. From 1984 to 1986 played the Center for Södertälje SK with which he was first in the 1984/85 season also champion and in the following season runner-up. In 1986 he was also elected to the Swedish All-Star Team. Following the season he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1986 in the fourth round as a total of 66 players from the New Jersey Devils. For New Jersey, he was from 1986 to 1989 in the National Hockey League on the ice and scored in 107 games 34 scorer points, including eight goals. During the same period he also ran parallel regularly for New Jersey's farm team Maine Mariners and Utica Devils in the American Hockey League.

For the 1989/90 season Carlsson was awarded a contract with his hometown club Brynäs IF. After his return to Sweden he had no difficulties in adapting and scored 31 assists, which he was best assist provider of Elitserien along with his compatriot Håkan Loob. For the 1991/92 season the links Sagittarius joined the team Boro from the second-class Division 1 for his new team, he scored 33 goals in 29 games and 23 templates. Then he was again obliged Brynäs IF, with whom he was for the second time in his career, the Swedish championship in the 1992/93 season. In this, as the following season, he was also team captain at Brynäs. In the season 1994/95 he went to the Västerås IK. He then played six more seasons until his career end at the age of 40 years for the Eltiserien participants Leksand IF, in which the veteran in the 1999/2000 season was also team captain. In the same season he took part in the All-Star Game part of the Elitserien.

After the end of his playing career Carlsson was promoted to General Manager at Leksand IF and worked in this capacity from 2001 to 2006. Since 2006 he works as a scout for the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL.

Internationally

For Sweden Carlsson took part in the World Championships 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1997. Overall, he was with the Swedish national team two -time world and three-time runner-up. In addition, he stood up from their country in 1987 in the Canada Cup.
