Anders Kallur

Anders Kallur ( born July 6, 1952 in Ludvika ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who played from 1979 to 1985 for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League.

Career

Anders Kallur began his career in 1970 in the second division in Sweden Falun IF. After two years, he made ​​his debut in the Swedish premier league Elitserien at HC Tunabro, where he played until 1974.

In MoDo Hockey, where Kallur was active from 1974 to 1976, he made the final breakthrough. From 1976 to 1978 he played for Södertälje SK and in the 1978/79 season at Djurgårdens IF before moving to the National Hockey League in 1979 to the New York Islanders. In 1979 he won the Guldpucken as the best Swedish ice hockey player of the year.

There he experienced the most successful years of the team. From 1980 to 1983, the Islanders won four consecutive Stanley Cup and Anders Kallur and teammate Stefan Persson became the first Swedes who won the Stanley Cup. In 1984, she once again reached the Stanley Cup final, but they lost to the Edmonton Oilers to Wayne Gretzky, who had also beaten yet in the previous year in the Stanley Cup finals. 1985 ended his career Kallur. In the season 1986/87 he served as head coach at the Italian club EV Bruneck.

Kallur participated with the Swedish national team at the Canada Cup in 1981. During the tournament, he completed five games, scoring three goals and one assist
